“An Overview of Progress Notes as They Are Utilized in Documenting Mental Health Treatment Records” 

Objectives:

  1. Describe 3 or more specific functions/purposes for progress notes.
  2. Explain how progress notes are relevant to the requirements expressed in California Business and Professions Code, 4982. (v), which requires therapists to “keep records consistent with sound clinical judgment, the standards of the profession, and the nature of the services rendered.”
  3. Explain how progress notes are relevant to the ethical standards concerning client/patient records, as expressed in §5.3 of the CAMFT Code of Ethics. 
  4. Explain the difference between “progress notes” and “psychotherapy notes” as they are defined by HIPAA.

This course meets the qualifications for 1.5 hours of continuing education credits for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and/or LEPs as required by the Board of Behavioral Sciences. Completion of ALL FOUR MODULES of the series earns a discount on liability insurance.  You will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the workshop.

PLEASE NOTE: If you would like to receive CEUs for CAMFT Zoom events, please plan to:

  1. Arrive no later than 10 minutes from the beginning of the workshop,
  2. Check in with Central Coast Chapter
  3. Be certain your FULL NAME appears onscreen so that we may properly take attendance,
  4. Attend the full workshop,
  5. Complete an evaluation (which will be emailed to all participants after the workshop) in order to receive either CEUs and
Refund Policy for all events: Registrants who do not attend or fail to cancel registration seven days prior to scheduled event will be charged full fee.  The only exception will be for registrants who are unable to attend due to family emergency.  If you need to cancel, please reply to this email within seven days of the upcoming event.
