Alex Kneeland is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #163021) and the owner of Bishop Peak Counseling, a private practice based in San Luis Obispo.
Alex has particular depth in couples work, drawing on his training in the Gottman Method to help partners build stronger communication, repair conflict patterns, and deepen connection. He is also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which he integrates alongside other evidence-based modalities to help clients process trauma, manage anxiety, and navigate life transitions.
Alongside his couples work, Alex has a particular interest in working with male teens and adolescents, as well as college students navigating the pressures of identity, independence, and transition into adulthood. He brings a grounded, relatable presence to this work, helping young men build the tools to understand themselves and relate to others more effectively.
He earned his license after completing his clinical training and passing the California MFT Clinical Exam, and he is committed to providing a grounded, collaborative therapeutic experience for individuals and couples throughout the Central Coast.
Outside of the therapy room, Alex is an avid outdoorsman who spends much of his free time in the mountains and along the coast — whether rock climbing, hiking, or surfing. He finds that time spent in nature informs his approach to resilience, presence, and personal growth, themes he often brings into his clinical work.
Alex is a member of CAMFT and is proud to be part of the Central Coast chapter community.
