I am a licensed marriage and family therapist who has specialized in providing individual, family and group counseling to adolescents and young adults on a variety of issues, such as coping with peer relationships, stress related to divorce and separation, grief/loss, anxiety, depression, gang involvement, substance abuse, and other school-related issues.
My professional experience includes over 15 years of employment as a high school teacher and group counselor; a psychotherapist working with children and their families; and as the director of a school-based non-profit program providing mental health services to adolescents.
I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches, including skill building, stress reduction and psycho-education. I am passionate about working with adolescents/young adults and supporting their transitions through the sometimes turbulent period in their lives. My clients and colleagues have described me as genuine, warm, optimistic and encouraging. My approach seeks to cultivate authentic strengths of both individuals and their families.
