Supporting Others Through Conflict

Presented by Steffanie Medina, MA, Certified Community Mediator and Trainer, PPS 

This workshop will offer attendees an opportunity to explore conflict through an unbiased lens, discover how to remain unattached to outcomes while empowering others to address conflict, and prioritize self-care activities that encourage detachment and self-reflection.

Goals:

  • Empower others to autonomously and effectively address conflict in their own lives;
  • Maintain neutrality while supporting others in difficult, controversial conflict scenarios;
  • Create a neutral space for others to engage in critical thinking, while simultaneously maintaining boundaries around personal convictions; and
  • Engage in self-care habits that promote unattachment and healthy perspective

About Our Presenter:

Steffanie completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology and graduate degree in Educational Counseling at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. She began her career in conflict resolution working with Creative Mediation in San Luis Obispo. Steffanie is now the Owner/Manager of Flow, LLC, a consulting company specializing in organizational conflict resolution and training services. Steffanie has been mediating, training and facilitating since 2009. As a trainer and facilitator Steffanie has worked with clients such as the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office, the San Luis Obispo Unified School District, Wilshire Health and Community Services, the Port of San Diego, and various departments at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Steffanie teaches graduate courses at both Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and the San Luis Obispo College of Law. Steffanie also continues to work as a training consultant and volunteer with Creative Mediation, San Luis Obispo County’s local community mediation center, and is past Board Chair of the National Association For Community Mediation. Most importantly, Steffanie is also a full-time mom and spouse, blessed to be living with her family and their dog and cat on the Central Coast of California.
