A Gestalt Approach to Resolving Ambivalence and Inner Splits Impacting Anxiety and Depression with Ken Hutchinson

Program will include A Brief Overview of Gestalt Therapy, including 

  • History
  • Theory (Awareness, Contact, Here-and Now, Process vs Content Focus, Polarities, Embodiment, Field Theory, Holism, Figure/Ground, Self, Experience                               Cycle)
  • Techniques Do Not Define Gestalt Therapy, Theory Does
  • Exploring the nature of Polarities

Objectives:

  1. Participants will differentiate “ambivalence” and “splits” from other processes that impact anxiety and depression.
  2. Participants will discuss this understanding in group through work in dyads as therapist or client.
  3. Participants will demonstrate processes in dyads enlivening the depth of embodiment of each polarity that results in movement toward closure.
